The hike will take us up Mt. Lee and behind the iconic symbol. It is illegal to hike directly to the sign (and trust us, you WILL get arrested if you try), but this hike will take you pretty close!
Most of the hike is on wide fire roads, and the last mile is paved.
What to bring: a great attitude, Highlander spirit, sunscreen, hat, 2 liters of water, shoes with grip (hiking or trail runners--regular running/walking shoes will not be enough) energy snacks.

Event Location Directions: How TO GET THERE from the south side of Griffith Park, head north on Canyon Drive from Franklin Avenue. Once the road enters Griffith Park it's stopped by a locked gate at the trailhead.
Event Parking and Transportation Information: Park in the small lot at the trailhead, along the street, or in the spillover lot just south of the trailhead.
Park in one of the dirt lots or on the street, if parking is unavailable. Because this a popular hike, we are leaving early to get parking. We will meet at the trailhead at the end of Canyon Rd.
We suggest carpool if available. The Alumni Office will not be arranging any official carpooling, but please feel free to use the comments below to arrange carpooling options.
Please note: Organizers are not professional hikers or trained leaders and are not medically trained to handle emergencies. Please carry a personal medical emergency kit and any medications you need. Hiking is an inherently dangerous activity that can lead to serious injuries including but not limited to slip and fall injuries, fractures, rattlesnake bite, heat exhaustion, poison oak, ticks and frostbite. By participation in this event/hike you agree to not hold these organizers liable for any harm that may come to you, your guests, or your property. Always remember to let the event organizer know if you are leaving the group. Stay on the trail and do not hike alone.
